Oakington Squadron receive Royal British Legion award
The Oakington Squadron were visited by the Vice President if the Histon & Impington Branch of The Royal British Legion on Thursday 7 June.
Philip Starling, a former Commanding Officer of 2524 (Oakington) Squadron, joined the cadets on parade to award them with a certificate for “assisting Histon & Impington RBL Branch in Fundraising and Remembrance activities during 2017."
Flight Sergeant Thomas Margetts received the Certificate on behalf of the Squadron.
FS Margetts, who was the last cadet to join the Squadron whilst Mr Starling was in Command, said “It was an honour to receive the certificate on behalf of the Squadron. It is great to know that the hard work and enthusiasm of the cadets is really appreciated by so many people. I was particularly pleased that I was able to collect the Certificate from Mr Starling who was CO when I transferred to the Squadron as a Corporal two and a half years ago. I am looking forward to the Squadron getting involved in the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance again this year.”
