The Oakington Squadron were visited by the Vice President if the Histon & Impington Branch of The Royal British Legion on Thursday 7 June. Philip Starling, a former Commanding Officer of 2524 (Oakington) Squadron, joined the cadets on parade to award them with a certificate for “assisting Histon & Impington RBL Branch in Fundraising and Remembrance activities during 2017." 2524 Squadron held it’s annual Presentation Evening on Saturday 20 January, celebrating the achievements of the cadets during 2017. During the evening cadets and parents were given presentations on activities undertaken by cadets during 2017 – these included presentations by Cdt Thurston on her Camp at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Cdt Gaishun on his training for this year’s Nijmegen Marchs in Holland and by Cdt Kane and Cpl Baxter on Sector Field Day and Wing Field Weekend.

Sunday 12th November saw people across the UK join in acts of Remembrance to honour those who have given their lives in the defence of our Nation and the freedom of people across the Globe. Cadets and staff from 2524 (Oakington) Squadron RAF Air Cadets attended Remembrance Parades in Histon and in Longstanton, laying wreaths at both War Memorials in memory of the the Fallen. Last weekend saw Cadet Gaishun and Cadet Thurston complete their second training march for Nijmegen 2018 alongside the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshires Wing Nijmegen Team. The day consisted of a 17 mile march from 73 (Huntingdon) Squadron Headquarters to Grafham Water and back.
